Mike ran for the US Senate in North Carolina, losing out to Senator John Edwards. Based on his outstanding campaign in the Senate primary, Mike was asked by the state Democratic Party to be their nominee for the House of Representatives in the 5th District in North Carolina. Mike earned the support of over 55,000 votes, winning two counties in his unsuccessful bid, and gaining the respect of voters, the media, and even opponents.
Mike has consistently supported a common sense, no special interest approach to North Carolina issues. He opposed the CAFTA treaty which will steal even more North Carolina jobs. Mike supports our troops in Iraq, but as no WMD were found, he has urged the President to be honest about why we are there.
